Referral from the Board of Supervisors, File 041658: Resolution authorizing the San Francisco Department of Public Health, Balboa Teen Health Center, Community Health Programs for Youth (SFDPH), to enter retroactively into an agreement with Public Health Institute, California School Health Centers Association (PHI/CSHC) the primary contractor, and expend funds in the amount of $18,820 to support advocacy at the local, state, and national levels for sustainable school-based health care; for the period of August 1, 2004 to July 31, 2005.

  1. Discussion and possible action re: Board of Supervisors, File 041307: Ordinance amending the San Francisco Health Code by adding Article 19 I, encompassing Sections 1009.80 et seq., to prohibit smoking on any unenclosed area of property in the City and County of San Francisco that is open to the public under the jurisdiction of the Recreation and Park Commission or any other City department if the property is a park, square, garden, playground, sport or playing field, pier, or other property used for recreational purposes.

Discussion and possible action re: Referral from the Board of Supervisors, File 041757: Resolution urging the United States Food and Drug Administration, the California Department of Health Services, and the San Francisco Department of Public Health to implement measures to prevent the consumption of lead tainted candy by children in San Francisco.

  2. Discussion and possible action re: Referral from the Board of Supervisors, File 041758: Resolution urging the Mayor to stand by his commitment to the youth of San Francisco by appointing youth to the Library Commission.

  3. Discussion and possible action re: Resolution urging the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to urge the Governor of California to better monitor state prison spending and to increase funding for Community Colleges and State Universities [Commissioners Baires and Lauterborn]

  4. Discussion and possible action re: Report back on the Fourth Annual Youth Recognition Day held on Tuesday, December 14, 2004

ACCESSIBLE MEETING POLICY

The Youth Commission meeting will be held in City Hall Room 416 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, CA. The closest accessible BART station is the Civic Center Station at the United Nations Plaza and Market Street. Accessible MUNI lines serving this location are: MUNI Metro Lines J-Church, K-Ingleside, L-Taraval, M-Oceanview, and N-Judah at Van Ness and Civic Center Stations; 42-Downtown Loop; 9-San Bruno; 19-Polk; and 71-Haight Noriega. The Commission meeting room is wheelchair accessible. Accessible curbside parking spaces have been designated on the corners of McAllister and Polk, and Grove and Polk. There is accessible parking available within the Civic Center Underground Parking Garage at the corner of McAllister and Polk Streets, and within the Performing Arts Parking Garage at Grove and Franklin Streets.

If you require the use of an American sign language interpreter, a sound enhancement system, or a reader during the meeting, Calendars and minutes of the meeting in alternative formats; such arrangements can be made by calling Ron S. McCan at (415) 554-6446, at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. Late requests will be honored if possible.
