Minutes

  1. Call to Order/Role Call – 5:35pm.
    Anjum, Cabrera, Carvajal, Carvalho, Do, Franklin, Frierson, Gee, Gong, Gray, James, Macheel, Quesada, Shamonda, Tsibulskaya, Yan.
  2. Approval of the Agenda – all.

  8. Mesha Izarriy, Executive Director of Idriss Stelley Foundation (ISF): Ask: Looking for youth and Asian/Pacific Islander board of directors. Gave background and services (victim reporting of police harassment, know your rights training, translation services, Youth media projects and training) offered for organization.     6 members, we hopefully can recruit more, as more people on probation can successfully transition Report out on Chicago trip.

    Support, how can we help? Ask for support, constant check-in, new ideas and help come up with plan. More communicative with YGC. How to increase exposure. Set up meeting with Department. How they can benefit from it. Make it mandatory. Receive five hours of community service. How do we get involved as Ycers? Two fold:1) one stop shop at orientations: linking CBOs connections and resources for eventual case management, resource sharing and services Legislative training with JPD, 2) kick-off with JPD and violence prevention – word of mouth, outreach and endorsements. Save the date: Kick-off in March.

    SAC: Ask feedback on school lunches, Point of Sales (POS) and MUNI fast pass strategy, BoE shadows high school youth for a day at the SAC (delegates). 1/31

77.8% - voted YES on Prop A

43.3 % - voted for OBAMA

37.3% - voted for CLINTON

5.2% - voted for McCAIN

SF Police Department's Department General Order (DGO) 7.01 – 2.28 (Carvalho, Franklin, James) YC will present stance at Police Commission hearing; has been on our radar since 2005; DGO 7.01 summarizes. Changing age limits. AsianWEEK article on Chief Heather Fong, Commander Sandra Tong – 2/20: Endorsed it to move forward to.

  2. Family Budget Coalition Budget Advocacy and Revised Timeline. Check in with Steering Committee meeting next week, and budget proposals, Tuesday, Feb. 12th at 4:30pm. BUDGET PROPOSALS DUE! New deadline is 2.22.
  3. Board of Supervisors' Hearing on San Francisco education budget issues for the City and County

Rainy Day – 30 million may be potentially covered by rainy day fund (out of 40 million).

Speak to Supervisors as Youth Commissioners.
