- Discussion and possible action re: A 2-way hearing with representatives
from the Youth Commission, Board of Supervisors, Juvenile Probation Commission,
Human Rights Commission, Police Commission, District Attorney’s Office on
the Impact of Proposition 21 on youth in San Francisco and how city departments
will respond. Committee members will continue planning the goals, content
and format of a joint hearing which would address what city policy is around
Proposition 21. Recommendations from this hearing could help create new
department policies, legislation and a Juvenile Justice Task Force to monitor
the city’s response.
- Discussion and possible action re: Prop 21 Youth Summit, organizing
Know-Your-Rights Trainings, Speak-Outs, and speakers bureaus on juvenile
justice issues (including possible hotline and other services for youth)
in preparation for the hearing.
- Discussion and possible action re: Collaboration with the Board
of Supervisors and Commissions and Departments in preparation for the hearing.
Committee members will report back on and plan future meetings with Departments
to present recommendations and other research to relevant city agencies
in preparation for the hearing.
- Discussion and possible action re: Follow-up with other Bay Area
Youth Commissions.
Committee members will evaluate the collaboration with other Bay Area Youth
Commissions, decide if and how they would like to continue working with
them.
- Discussion and possible action re: Setting Next Meeting’s Agenda.
