The agenda was approved unanimously.
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS FOR ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA
There was no public comment.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes from the meeting of March 10, 2022 were edited to correct two typos and correct the use of Coyote Cordonices Marin’s name to only use Marin for reference (their last name) and approved without objection.
5. OCA UPDATE
Shawn Peters discussed difficulty in collecting the 12-UI forms – which are the forms WRC needs to determine where to investigate/inspect. Peters is working on improving this process and looking into Business Intelligence (BI) as a means of capturing the necessary information. Peters does not know what is delaying the submissions from Banner and Muscatellos.
6. CONTRACT RECOMMENDATIONS UPDATE
Patrick Mulligan updated the group, reporting that Supervisor Connie Chan’s office responded to the letter stating they are interested in meeting with SPAG members to learn more. Jason Oringer and Julie Fisher will follow up with Supervisor Chan’s office. OLSE will send Supervisor Matt Dorsey the letter since he was not in office when it was sent. Confirmation that Oringer and Fisher will approach Supervisor Chan; Fisher will approach Supervisor Peskin; and Marin will approach Supervisor Mandelman.
7. VANCOUVER UPDATE
Conchita Lozano-Batista discussed her meeting with Tom Sandborn from Vancouver, Canada. Sanborn, and the group he is affiliated with, wants to move the City of Vancouver toward the San Francisco model of Sweatfree enforcement, utilizing an inspection process. Lozano-Batista recommended that Sandborn speaks with OLSE as the SPAG is unique in that it has a department to help with the administration of the group and ordinance. The SPAG encouraged OLSE to support Vancouver in its efforts and Marin recommended OCA also speak with Sandborn. Peters believes Sailaja Kurella would be happy to do so and will speak with her about it.
8. POTENTIAL ITEMS FOR FUTURE AGENDAS
- Follow up on Contract Recommendations – SPAG Members report out
- WRC Update
- Vancouver Update
- Outreach to recruit new members to the SPAG (OLSE to draft language and send to SPAG to use in recruitment efforts).
