I.Temporary Presiding Officer

Both Officers for the Shelter Monitoring Committee were excused for the April 2014 meeting. Based on the bylaws, the Committee shall elected Committee Member Cindy Ward to act as Presiding Officer.

III.         Reports                                                                 

A.          Mayor’s HOPE Office                                           

Bevan Dufty, Director of HOPE, Housing Opportunity, Partnerships and Engagement, provided an update from his office. Mr. Dufty discussed the upcoming hearings being held by Supervisor Farrell regarding homeless programs. HOPE Deputy Director of Policy Amanda Fried provided an update on the Shelter Access Workgroup (SAW) meeting and report on the 311 reservation system.

B.          Shelter Status Report                                             

              Human Service Agency (HSA) Report     

Presiding Officer Ward provided an overview of the vacancy reports for the shelter system. Ms. Ward announced that Jemari Foulis would be working as the Family Shelter Manager and that the Adult Shelter Program Manager Bernhard Gunther would be retiring in May 2014.

C.          Standard of Care Report                                      

Committee staff Jeff Simbe reviewed the SOC report and gave an overview of the complaints filed in March 2014.

A.          2012-2013 SOC Annual Report                            

The Committee reviewed and made changes to the SOC report.

Kathy Treggiari from ECS asked that future reports be circulated through e-mail so that providers have an opportunity to see and comment on the reports. Ms. Treggiari discussed some training strategies her agency is taking to provide training for its 120+ staff, including videotaping trainings so that others can view them at a later time.

 

B.          1st & 2nd Quarter Report                                        

The Committee reviewed and changes or edits to the 1st & 2nd Quarter Report.

The nearest BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets.  The MUNI Metro lines are the F, J, K, L, M, and N (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station).  MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, and the 6, 7, 71 Haight/Noreiga.  Accessible curbside parking is available on Oak and Hickory Streets.

 

The ringing of and use of cell phones, pagers, and similar sound producing electronic devices are prohibited at this meeting.  Please be advised that the Chair may order the removal from the meeting room of any person(s) responsible for the ringing or use of a cell phone, pager or other similar sound-producing electronic devices.

In order to assist the City’s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees maybe sensitive to various chemical based scented projects.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.
