1. Consent Calendar

1. Motion to increase Charles Sowers’ Contract DPAR10000107 for design and fabrication of artwork at the San Francisco International Airport, Terminal Two by an amount not to exceed $43,000 for additional costs of designing and fabricating the artwork display case.

2. Motion to approve San Francisco General Hospital Community Mural Project, a 7’ x 211’, painted mural on the San Francisco General Hospital (“SFGH”) construction fence line. The mural will be painted by Precita Eyes artist, Susan Cervanes, Marina Perez Wong and Marta Ayala, SFGH staff, outpatients and Buena Vista Elementary School students. The mural will be painted on October 2, 2010 at the SFGH Community Mural "Paint-In".

3. Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into contract with Anna Valentina Murch for design, fabrication, transportation and consultation during installation of artwork for General Hospital Acute Care Unit: Plaza in an amount not to exceed $460,730.

4. Motion to approve the revised design by Eric Powell for artwork pedestrian gate for Cayuga Playground relative to the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) compliance.

2. Proposed Gift of Monument to Harry Bridges for Harry Bridges Plaza

Presentation of a proposed gift to the city, a statue of Harry Bridges designed by Bruce Wolfe for Harry Bridges Plaza.

Motion: Motion to approve the proposed gift to the city, of a statue of Harry Bridges, designed by Bruce Wolfe for placement in Harry Bridges Plaza, from the Committee for Harry Bridges Plaza, contingent on progressive design approvals and establishment of a reasonable Arts Commission administrative fee and maintenance endowment.

3. San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery

Meg Shiffler

Gallery Director, Meg Shiffler, will give a short PowerPoint presentation on the fall 2010 exhibitions, Transplanted at the Main Gallery and Grove Street and Night/Light at City Hall.

Motion: Motion for the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into a contractual relationship with Mr. Shannon Green for an honorarium in the amount of $10,240. Mr. Green will conduct research and provide administrative support for the 2010-11 season of exhibitions. Mr. Green will be conducting his work from October - May, 2011.

4. Laguna Honda

Presentation of selected two-dimensional artworks for purchase for Laguna Honda.

Motion: Motion to approve the list of two-dimensional artworks for purchase for Laguna Honda.

5. Airport

Presentation of the final color palette for Janet Echelman sculptures for San Francisco International Airport, Terminal Two.

Motion: Motion to approve final color palette for Janet Echelman sculptures for San Francisco International Airport, Terminal Two.

6. Chinese Recreation Center Exterior Artwork

Presentation of Artist (to be identified at the Visual Arts Committee [“VAC”] meeting) selected by the Chinese Recreation Center Panel for the exterior Artwork.

Motion: Motion to approve the Artist (to be identified at VAC meeting) recommended by the Chinese Recreation Center Panel to create exterior artwork for the Chinese Recreation Center.

Motion:
Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into a contract with the selected artist, to be identified at the VAC meeting, as recommended by the Chinese Recreation Center Panel, for an amount not to exceed $38,000.

7. SOMA West – McCoppin Garden Art Project

Presentation of proposal by selected Artist Rebar.

Motion: Motion to approve the Artist Rebar for the SOMA West-McCoppin Garden Public Art Project; as recommended by the SOMA West Selection Panel.

Motion: Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into a contract with Rebar for design and fabrication of artwork for the SOMA West-McCoppin Garden project in an amount not to exceed $51,000.

8. Randall Museum

Presentation of Charles Sowers’ revised design for Windswept at the Randall Museum.

Motion: Motion to Approve Charles Sowers’ revised design for Windswept, which has the panels flush with the building wall as per the Randall Museum's request.

9. Palega Recreation Center

Presentation of finalists as recommended by the selection panel for two public art project opportunities associated with the renovation of Palega Recreation Center: interior mural opportunity and outdoor artwork opportunity.

Motion: Motion to approve the artist selection panel’s recommendation of the following artists as finalists for the interior mural opportunity associated with the renovation of the Palega Recreation Center: Jeffery Long, Kelly Ording, and Scott Oliver, with alternate artist team Kate Conell/Oscar Melara.

Motion: Motion to approve the artist selection panel’s recommendation of the following artists as finalists for the outdoor artwork opportunity associated with the renovation of the Palega Recreation Center: Peter Richards, Scott Oliver, and Rebar, with alternate Michael Arcega.

10. General Hospital Acute Care Unit – Potrero Avenue Plaza and Walkway

Presentation of clay models by Tom Otterness for fabrication of bronze sculptures for the General Hospital Potrero Avenue Plaza and Walkway

Motion: Motion to approve clay models by Tom Otterness (for Mother with Children sculpture, four 2-foot tall Hearts sculptures and three 1-foot tall Hearts sculptures) and authorize fabrication of bronze sculptures for the General Hospital Potrero Avenue Plaza and Walkway.

11. General Hospital Acute Care Unit – Art Glass Projects on Floors 3 - 7

Presentation of design development phase designs for light court windows and curved glass elements and art glass fabrication technique samples for art glass projects on Floors 3 – 7.

Motion:
Motion to approve the design development phase designs for light court windows and curved glass elements and art glass fabrication technique samples for art glass projects on Floors 3 – 7 by the following artists: Floor 3, Mildred Howard; Floor 4, Stephen Galloway; Floor 5, Nancy Blum; Floor 6 (2 windows), Arthur Stern; Floor 6 (two windows and one curved glass element), Julio Cesar Morales; and Floor 7, Alan Masaoka.

Motion: Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to modify the agreement with Mildred Howard to increase the agreement by (amount to be supplied at meeting) for a total contract amount not to exceed (amount to be supplied at meeting) for design, fabrication and transportation of artwork for General Hospital Acute Care Unit: Floor 3.

Motion:
Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to modify the agreement with Stephen Galloway to increase the agreement by (amount to be supplied at meeting) for a total contract amount not to exceed (amount to be supplied at meeting) for design, fabrication and transportation of artwork for General Hospital Acute Care Unit: Floor 4.

Motion: Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to modify the agreement with Nancy Blum to increase the agreement by (amount to be supplied at meeting) for a total contract amount not to exceed (amount to be supplied at meeting) for design, fabrication and transportation of artwork for General Hospital Acute Care Unit: Floor 5.

Motion:
Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to modify the agreement with Arthur Stern to increase the agreement by (amount to be supplied at meeting) for a total contract amount not to exceed (amount to be supplied at meeting) for design, fabrication and transportation of artwork for General Hospital Acute Care Unit: Floor 6 (two corridor windows).

Motion: Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to modify the agreement with Julio Cesar Morales to increase the agreement by (amount to be supplied at meeting) for a total contract amount not to exceed (amount to be supplied at meeting) for design, fabrication and transportation of artwork for General Hospital Acute Care Unit: Floor 6 (two corridor windows and one curved glass element).

Motion: Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to modify the agreement with Alan Masaoka to increase the agreement by (amount to be supplied at meeting) for a total contract amount not to exceed (amount to be supplied at meeting) for design, fabrication and transportation of artwork for General Hospital Acute Care Unit: Floor 7.
