Presentation of the conditional acceptance of Rose des Vents, a sculpture by Jean-Michel Othoniel, a gift of Julie Lepinard and the JSLH Foundation.

Motion: Approval to issue a Letter of Conditional acceptance to Julie Lepinard and the JSLH Foundation (donors), for of Rose des Vents, a sculpture by Jean-Michel Othoniel and gift to the City. The Letter of Conditional acceptance authorizes the donors to permanently install the sculpture in Golden Gate Park in accordance with the approved installation designs.  The sculpture, upon final acceptance, will become part of the Civic Art Collection.

Motion: Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into a contract with Mildred Howard for an amount not to exceed $1,100,000 for the design, engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation consultation of an artwork for the Southeast Community Center at 1550 Evans Plaza Sculpture.

Meeting Procedures

1. Agenda items will be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting.

2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting or up to 3 minutes.  During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda. Any person speaking during a public comment period may supply a brief written summary of their comments, which shall, if no more than 150 words, be included in the official file.

Explanatory documents listed above, as well as documents created or distributed after the posting of this agenda to the Arts Commission will be available for public inspection and copying at the Arts Commission office, 401 Van Ness Avenue, Room 325, San Francisco, CA 94102, during regular business hours. ACCESSIBLE MEETING POLICY

Per the American Disabilities Act and the Language Access Ordinance, Chinese, Spanish, and/or American Sign Language interpreters will be available upon request. Additionally, every effort will be made to provide a sound enhancement system, meeting materials in alternative formats, and/or a reader. Minutes may be translated after they have been adopted by the Commission. For all these requests, please contact Program Associate, Craig Corpora, at least 48 hours before the meeting at 415-252-2249. Late requests will be honored if possible. The hearing room is wheelchair accessible.
