1. Motion to approve the mural design entitled, West Portal Centennial by Sirron Norris. The painted mural will measure in two parts, each 20 ft., 9 in. by 4 ft., 5 in., and will be located on a brick wall along the perimeter of the parking lot that spans 170 and 186 West Portal Avenue. The project is funded by the Department of Economic and Workforce Development and is sponsored by the West Portal Merchants Association.  The mural will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. Final approval is pending approval by the SFMTA.

2. Motion to approve the mural designs for phase two of the Laguna Honda Mural Project by artists Elaine Chu and Yukakoe Ezoe. The additional painted mural will measure 5 ft. by 160  and will be located immediately left of the existing mural Celebrating 150 Years of Compassionate, Dedicated Service to the Community, 2015 (Resolution No. 1005-15-282) at 375 Laguna Honda Boulevard. The project is funded by a District 7 Participatory Grant and is sponsored by the Precita Eyes Muralists Association.  The mural will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.

3. Motion to authorize Director of Cultural Affairs to issue a Letter of Conditional Acceptance to the “Comfort Women” Justice Coalition for the proposed gift of Women’s Column of Strength, by Steven Whyte, pending staff verification of receipt of all contract documents as required in the Agreement between the “Comfort Women” Justice Coalition and the Arts Commission dated August 8, 2017.

Meeting Procedures

1. Agenda items will be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting.

2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting or up to 3 minutes.  During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda. Any person speaking during a public comment period may supply a brief written summary of their comments, which shall, if no more than 150 words, be included in the official file.
