COMMISSIONERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS/REQUESTS  (Item No. 16)

President E. Dennis Normandy requested that the Executive Officer explore the possibility of the Civil Service Commission meetings being video taped and broadcast on the San Francisco Government Channel.

Commissioner Morgan R. Gorrono informed the Commission that he appeared at the Police Commission meeting and brought copies of the motion at the February 25, 2011 meeting concerning the Q-80 examination and Commander Lazar in order to clarify and make public the Commission’s action.

Kevin Burke, President, San Francisco Fire Chief’s Association requested the reason Item #11 on the
H-50 Assistant Chief Examination
was postponed to the meeting of March 21, 2011.  Mr. Burke also asked for clarification on a statement about a summary report of all the speaker’s comments at the February 25, 2011 meeting be available to interested parties before the next meeting.

Vice President Casper clarified that he requested summaries of the interviews during the investigative phase on the appeal by Kevin D. Taylor be without editorial comment at the February 25, 2011 meeting.

Human Resources Director Micki Callahan stated that additional information was received and must be reviewed before the investigation on the appeal by Kevin D. Taylor (Register No. 0025-11-1) is completed.  Human Resources Director Micki Callahan expressed concern about the materials involving Firefighters being provided for public disclosure because of the Firefighters Bill of Rights.

Director Callahan also stated that the Department of Human Resources is also awaiting a Validation Report from the City Attorney’s Office as to the adequacy and job relatedness of the exam which will be presented at the meeting of March 21, 2011.

Commissioner Gorrono reminded the Commission that too much information was being discussed as this item was not on the Agenda.
