REQUEST TO SPEAK ON ANY MATTER WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION BUT NOT APPEARING ON TODAY’S AGENDA  (Item No. 2)

 

 

 

(1)      Gus Feldman, SEIU Local 1021 Field Representative, spoke regarding the terminations of Temporary Exempt employees in the Department of Public Health (DPH).  SEIU Local 1021 has made many attempts to meet and confer with DPH regarding an arbitration award affecting the Citywide Memorandum of Under-standing between SEIU 1021 represented miscellaneous classes and the City and County.

(2)      Shari Zinn, San Francisco General Hospital spoke of the need to retain the as-needed employees scheduled to be laid off.

(3)      Dong Sheng Liu, San Francisco General Hospital expressed his frustration on being laid off.

(4)      Mandana Siyadat, San Francisco General Hospital stated that it is difficult to train new people every three months.  It is an HR problem and a patient care matter.

 

 

(5)      Uzma Shaikh, as-needed Medical Assistant is being laid off and stressed what a hardship it is for her and her family.

(6)      Frank Martin del Campo, SEIU Local 1021 urged the Commission to extend the pending as-needed lay-offs at the Department of Public Health.

(7)      Valoria Russel-Benson requested an investigation of as-needed temporary appointments.

(8)      David Canham, asked the Commission to intervene in the Department of Public Health’s treatment of temporary as-needed employees.

(9)      Brendo Barros, SEIU Local 1021 spoke about the effects on their medical clinic and asked the Commission to withdraw the pending lay-offs.
