San Francisco Planning Department Wins Two Environmental Analyses Awards

In partnership with Environmental Science Associates & Orion Environmental Associates, Planning Department receives state & national recognition for “Environmental Analysis” at the NAEP | AEP awards

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Planning Department is proud to announce that it has won two environmental analyses awards for its “34th America’s Cup Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Assessment and Permitting” report at the 2013 National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) | Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP) Conference in Los Angeles.

In partnership with San Francisco’s Environmental Science Associates and Orion Environmental Associates, the Planning Department’s “34th America’s Cup Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Assessment and Permitting” report received the President’s Award in the “Environmental Analysis” category for the NAEP Environmental Excellence Award program. In addition, the report also won the Outstanding Award in the AEP Award program.

“It is an honor that our environmental impact report and assessment is recognized locally and nationally by two esteemed environmental professional associations,” said John Rahaim, planning director, San Francisco Planning Department. “I am especially excited that the Environmental Science Associates, Orion Environmental Associates and our environmental planning staff has received the acknowledgment they deserve for the incredible work on the America’s Cup environmental analysis.”

The NAEP Environmental Excellence Award program recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of environmental professionals from around the country. The NAEP Committee selected projects that are unique, displayed new ideas and fresh ways to conduct analysis, partnered in community engagement, and provide more accessible pathways to educate, enrich, and progress the environmental professions forward.

The AEP Award program provides statewide recognition of the best work of environmental professionals which contributes to the “enhancement, maintenance and protection of the quality of the natural and human environment.” Award winners were selected for their state-of-the-art in environmental analysis and presentation to the public and decision makers in increasingly attractive, understandable, and easily accessible format.
