THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 11:25 AM

Cultural Heritage Assets discussion.  The Cultural Heritage Assets Committee of the Historic Preservation Commission began holding monthly hearings last December. The purpose of the hearings is to provide a discussion forum for topics related to cultural heritage preservation. The February hearing will include a presentation by Diana Ponce De Leon from the Office of Economic and Workforce Development on the Invest in Neighborhoods Program. The hearing will also provide an opportunity for members of the public to contribute to a growing list of businesses, community organizations, and neighborhoods institutions that deserve recognition and protection.  Public participation in the hearing is encouraged. PRESENTERS:      Diana Ponce De Leon, Project Manager from Invest in Neighborhoods - gave a brief overall presentation on Japantown, lower 24th Street and commercial corridors in San Francisco neighborhoods;

Valley Brown, Aide to Supervisor Breed’s Office - read Supervisor Breed’s comment letter.

SPEAKERS:           =Jason Stein, Owner of 201 Buchannan Street - his experience of Mills Act;

+Richard Johns, HPC Commissioner representing self - suggested identified cultural assets be searchable on the website;

+Mike Buhler, SF Architectural Heritage - Legacy Business Registry Legislation will be before the Budget and Finance Committee on February 11.  Trailing legislation will follow to expand incentives beyond the original incentive.
