1. Call to Order and Roll Call

Chair Kennelly called the meeting to order at 5:43 pm.

Present: Chair Kennelly; Vice Chair Gaime (5:51); Commissioners Moses; Maldonado; Paz; Romanenko; Kong; Enssani

Not Present: Commissioners Lee (excused); Fuentes (excused); Price; Bernabeu

Staff: Policy Analyst Cook, Commission Clerk Richardson; Executive Assistant/Office Manager Chan

 

 

2. Public Comment

There was no public comment.

 

3. Action Item: Approval of previous minutes

  1. Approval of March 14, 2016 Full Commission Minutes

This item was discussed out of order

Commissioner Moses motioned to approve the minutes from March 14, 2016. Commissioner Enssani seconded the motion, no commissioners opposed. The motion was approved.

 

4. Action Items:

  1. Debrief and Follow-Up from March 21, 2016 Consular Roundtable Discussion

Chair Kennelly gave a brief overview of the March 21, 2016 Consular Roundtable Discussion. Chair Kennelly thanked the Commissioners who attended the meeting and noted that consulates that attended the meeting were interested in collaborating with the commission in the future.

 

  1. District 10 Hearing Planning

Chair Kennelly led a discussion on selecting a date for a date change for the District 10 Neighborhood Hearing in June 2016. Chair Kennelly motioned to hold the hearing on Monday, June 6, 2016. Commissioner Kong seconded the motion, no commissioners opposed. The motion was approved.

 

  1. Report back- Equal Protection in Travel Act of 2016

Chair Kennelly invited Commissioner Enssani to provide the Commission with an update on the Equal Protection in Travel Act of 2016. Commissioner Enssani gave a brief report, stating that she will draft a letter for the Executive Committee to review in support of the act. Enssani added that she would invite speakers to address the commission in regards to this issue. 

 

 

5. New Business

Policy Analyst Cook briefed the commission on the content of their folders, including information on the Language Access Ordinance Quarterly Complaint Report; the upcoming San Francisco Pathways to Citizenship Initiative Free Citizenship Workshop on Saturday, April 23, 2016; and information on the 2016 DreamSF Fellowship program for DACA-approved youth in the Bay Area.

 

 

 

6. Old Business

Chair Kennelly led a discussion on the commission’s letter to Sheriff Hennessy, included in the commissioners’ folders. There was discussion among commissioners regarding the specific language included in the letter. Chair Kennelly stated that the letter was submitted as written to Sheriff Hennessy, and recommended that the commission make a second statement, per the recommendation of Commissioner Paz, once there is more information and discussion through the Board of Supervisors regarding the Due Process for All Ordinance.

 

 

7. Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned by Chair Kennelly at 6:13pm.
