1. Â Call to Order and Roll Call Vice Chair Gaime called the meeting to order at 5:33 pm. Present: Vice Chair Gaime; Commissioners Fuentes, Fujii, Khojasteh, Kong, Maldonado, Paz, Ricarte, Romanenko, Wang , Wong Not Present: Chair Kennelly (excused); Commissioner Enssani (excused) Staff: Director Pon, Clerk Richardson, Office Manager Chan

2. Â Public Comment There was no public comment. |

3. Â Action Item: Approval of previous minutes
Vice Chair Gaime suggested the commission review the four sets of minutes as a set, for approval. Commissioner Paz motioned to approve the Full Commission Meeting Minutes from June 6, 2016; September 12, 2016; October 3, 2016; and November 14, 2016. Commissioner Kong second the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. Â |

4.  New Business Director Pon provided a brief overview of local, state and federal legislation that the Commission may want to consider, adding that staff would provide more information in a detailed document at the Annual Planning Retreat in February. Commissioner Khojasteh proposed a re-issuing of the Commission’s statement from November in support of immigrant communities, to be published and circulated for the Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2017. Director Pon advised that this item is old business and can be re-issued at the discretion of the Chair and Vice Chair. Commissioner Paz and Commissioner Maldonado stated full support of this item. Vice Chair Gaime directed Commissioner Khojasteh to provide updates to the statement and for staff to re-issue the statement on behalf of the Commission.  |

5. Â New Commissioner Orientation
Director Pon provided a brief introduction for new commissioners, stating a full orientation will occur at the Annual Retreat on February, 13, 2017. Â |

6. Â Old Business

Details on time and place of the IRC Annual Retreat were provided by the Commission Clerk.
Vice Chair Gaime prompted all Commissioners to review the proposed amendments to the bylaws which will be on the agenda at the IRC Annual Retreat.
Commissioner Paz suggested the commission stay informed on immigrant rights related issues by re-posting communications through the OCEIA website. Commissioner Maldonado concurred, adding more information on resources and city departments would be helpful for immigrant communities. Commissioner Wang asked if it was within a commissioner’s purview to invite local experts to speak on issues impacting immigrant communities; Director Pon confirmed that this may be done at any calendared meeting and it has in previous Quality of Life and other hearings for the Commission. Vice Chair Gaime encouraged commissioners to come prepared to discuss these issues at the Annual Retreat.
Director Pon stated that a draft of the Annual Report will be included for review and further discussion. Â Â Announcements: Vice Chair Gaime opened the floor to any other announcements. Commissioner Maldonado invited the Commission to attend the upcoming San Francisco Pathways to Citizenship Initiative Free Citizenship Workshop on Saturday, February 4, 2017, located at the Microsoft Headquarters in San Francisco, on 1355 Market Street. Director Pon encouraged commissioners to attended, even if for a short time. Â |
