Chair Kennelly called the meeting to order at 5:36 pm.

Not Present: Vice Chair Gaime (excused), Commissioners Maldonado, Bernabeu (unexcused)

3.   Action Item: Approval of previous minutes

The Commission did not have quorum; approval of the Full Commission Minutes from June 6, 2016 and September 12, 2016 were deferred to next meeting Full Commission Meeting by Chair Kennelly.

4.  New Business

Chair Kennelly raised one new item of business on behalf of Commissioner Enssani. The request from Commissioner Enssani being to invite “MacArthur Genius” Award Winner, José Quiñonez of Mission Asset Fund to come and present to the commission on innovative lending practices for immigrant communities. The Commission agreed to invite Quiñonez to speak at a future Full Commission Meeting.

5.   Old Business

1. Annual Consular Reception

Director Pon updated the Commission on the location of the Annual Consular Reception. The reception will be held at the Irish Consulate office at 100 Pine Street on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 4:00-6:30 pm. If Commissioners have special invite requests, Chair Kennelly instructed them send that information to staff.

2. Proposed Tri-City Immigrant Event

Director Pon stated, on behalf of the Commission and Chair and Vice Chair that Mayor Lee responded positively to the Tri-City Immigrant event, noting that firm commitments from other participating cities is in the works.  

3. Annual Report Update

Director Pon provided the Commission with an update on the draft status of the Annual Report.

4. Director/Staff Report

Director Pon updated the Commission on the outcome of the most recent San Francisco Pathways to Citizenship Initiative’s Free Citizenship Workshop on October 1, 2016. Director Pon invited the Commissioners to spread the word and volunteer at the next Citizenship Workshop on December 3, 2016.

Director Pon discussed seat vacancies and re-appointments to the Commission.

Chair Kennelly requested that the Commission review the IRC Annual Planning Retreat Minutes from January 2016 in preparation for the 2017 meeting. Chair Kennelly stated that the Commission can discuss topics in more detail at the next Full Commission Meeting on November, 14, 2016.

The Commissioners came to a consensus that the Annual Planning Retreat on Monday, January 9, 2016 will be held from 2:00-6:00pm.

6.   Adjournment

Chair Kennelly adjourned the meeting at 6:08 pm
