CALL TO ORDER

The meeting came to order at 5:36PM.

Members of the public may address the Commission on items of interest to the public that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission. With respect to agenda items, members of the public may address the Commission for up to three minutes at the time such item is called. 

1. General Public comment.

Barry Toronto stated he was an advocate for the taxi industry and has been a cab driver for over 18 years. He added he was an advocate for cab services and supporting clubs.  He added he had some issues with some of the clubs having double parked vehicles that are just sitting soliciting for fares.  He added many of the clubs use cones that take up street space and creates problems.  He asked the Commission to work with DPT and require the venues to have white zones.

2. Approval of Meeting Minutes.  Discussion and possible action to approve the minutes of June 19, 2018 Commission meeting. [Discussion and Possible Action Item]

6. Hearing and Possible Action regarding applications for permits under the jurisdiction of the Entertainment Commission. [Discussion and Possible Action Item]   

Regular Agenda:

a) ECOTE-18-183 – Restivo, Steven, Conga Connect West, Kaplan Lane between Clementina and Terminus, One Time Outdoor Entertainment Event Permit, request to extend hours of entertainment to 11:30 P.M.  

Steve Restivo spoke on logistics of his event and stated it was a private event they did the event last year. This year they requested a 90 minute extension for the reception. He added neighborhood outreach was done.

Commissioner Caminong moved to approve Commissioner Thomas second the permit.

b) EC-1453 – AT&T Park, AT&T Park, 24 Willie Mays Plaza, Place of Entertainment Permit

Jack Bare Director spoke on the permit application. He added they will have 14 non baseball events per year.

Commissioner Thomas moved to approve with the conditions attached Commissioner Bleiman second the motion.

9. Commissioner Comments & Questions. [Announcements] 

Commissioner Thomas thanked Commissioner Tan is years of service on the Commission as president.  She added it has been great being vice president under him and she has learned a lot and has appreciated the ways he engaged with often contentious voices that were in conflict and how he help the commission to figure out how to get people to better place and come to some compromise.

Commissioner Bleiman stated we would be remised not to thank Commissioner Thomas for her work as vice chair.  He added that he spoke for everyone that he had ta level of confidence when president Tan wasn’t here that there was a very steady and wise hand on the gavel.   He added he would not be present at the next commission meeting due to a previously planned vacation.

Commissioner Tan stated he was honored to serve as president on the Entertainment Commission for 5 years and will continue to serve as commissioner.
