Sanchez, Roberto dba Playa Azul, 3318 Mission Street, Limited Live Performance Permit.
Â
Limited Live Performance permit application for Playa Azul located at 3318 Mission Street. Playa Azul is a restaurant and bar located in the Mission District that has been in operation for 20 years. The business’s manager and business partner are here today to come into compliance for their entertainment which currently includes performances by mariachi bands. Playa Azul proposes to use the space for entertainment 7 days a week from 10am until 10pm. There have been several complaints logged from two complainants who live next door to Playa Azul regarding the noise levels from the mariachi bands and jukebox extending from 9am until 12am daily and a lack of responsiveness from the venue. A letter from complainants and a log of previous complaints made to the venue, Police Department, and Entertainment Commission are attached in your files today. The complainants ask that the Commission deny the Limited Live Performance permit, or grant it with the notion that we meet again in 3-6 months in order to re-assess the status of the permit, and lastly ask that if you do grant the permit, you require entertainment to end at 9pm on weekdays, and 10pm on weekends. Please note that we have received two letters of support for Playa Azul including the support of District 9 Supervisor David Campos. Business partner, Carlos Morales also has signatures in favor of the permit here today to share with you. Ingleside Station approves the Limited Live Performance permit. Here to tell you more about Playa Azul are Carlos Morales and the owner’s son and general manager, Everardo Sanchez.
