COMMISSIONERS PRESENT:  Ben Bleiman, (President), Dori Caminong, (Vice President) Steven Lee, Laura Thomas, Cyn Wang

 

STAFF IN ATTENDANCE: Executive Director, Maggie Weiland; Deputy Director, Kaitlyn Azevedo; Senior Analyst, Dylan Rice; Senior Inspector, Antonio Savino; Commission Aide, Crystal Kennedy

1. General Public Comment

2. Approval of Meeting Minutes.  Discussion and possible action to approve the minutes of the December 1, 2020 Commission meeting. [Discussion and Possible Action Item]

MOTION: Commissioner Thomas moved to approve the December 1, 2020 minutes, Commissioner Lee seconded the motion.

 

ACTION: Approved Minutes for December 1, 2020

 

AYES: Commissioner Caminong, Commissioner Thomas, Commissioner Bleiman, Commissioner Lee, Commissioner Wang

 

NAYS: None

 

ABSENT: Commissioner Perez and Commissioner Falzon

 

  1. Report from Executive Director Legislative/Policy Update: Update on Just Add Music (JAM) permit data and any updates to the San Francisco Public Health Order; Staff and Office Update: none; Update on Board of Appeals Actions: none; Corrective Actions: none. [Discussion Item]

  1. Report from Deputy Director: Deputy Director Kaitlyn Azevedo reports on recent venue inspections and activities. [Discussion Item]

  1. Discussion and possible action to send a letter of support to policy makers for specific policy recommendations from San Francisco’s Economic Recovery Task Force as well as the proposed relief package and policy solutions from the San Francisco Venue Coalition and the Independent Venue Alliance: As requested at the November 17 and December 1, 2020 hearings, the Entertainment Commission will discuss and potentially act to send a letter of support to policy makers [Download Draft Letter] [Download Final Letter] regarding the San Francisco Economic Recovery Task Force’s policy recommendations as well as the San Francisco Venue Coalition and Independent Venue Alliance’s proposed relief package and policy solutions. Public Comment:

+ Casey Lowdermilk, San Francisco Venue Coalition, supports Commission's efforts. 

                  + Duncan World, Piano Fight, supports Commission's efforts. 

 

MOTION: Commissioner Bleiman moved to approve the San Francisco Venue Coalition and the Independent Venue Alliance’s proposed relief package and policy solutions, Commissioner Wang seconded the motion.

 

ACTION: Approved 

 

AYES: Commissioner Caminong, Commissioner Thomas, Commissioner Bleiman, Commissioner Lee, Commissioner Wang 

 

NAYS: None

 

ABSENT: Commissioner Perez and Commissioner Falzon
