SFPD Make Arrest in Bayview District Shooting Investigation 17-158

On September 27, 2017 at approximately 10:51PM, San Francisco Police officers assigned to Bayview Station responded to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFGH) regarding a shooting victim that had been driven to the hospital in a privately owned automobile Upon arrival, the officers began an investigation that revealed that the shooting victim, a 26 year-old, female, San Francisco resident had been shot during a physical altercation with a female suspect on the 2100 block of Jennings Street at approximately 10:45PM. The victim was admitted to ZSFGH with life threatening injuries and is recovering from the injury.

During the course of the investigation, members of the Bayview Station Investigative Team (SIT) published a crime bulletin containing surveillance camera images of the shooting suspect. 

On October 5, 2017 at approximately 12:56AM, Bayview officers conducted a traffic stop on a maroon Lincoln sedan at Ingalls Street and Palou Avenue for vehicle code violations. During the traffic stop, officers saw that the passenger in the right front seat resembled the suspect wanted in the shooting and detained her. The driver and a rear seat passenger were also detained as officers continued their investigation. Prior to towing, officers conducted an inventory of the vehicle which resulted in the seizure of unfired handgun cartridges and a Smith and Wesson revolver.

The shooting suspect, 35 year-old San Francisco resident Kenyanna Dixon was later booked into the San Francisco County Jail on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, carrying a concealed firearm, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.

The vehicle driver, 64 year-old San Francisco resident Charles Sullivan, was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded and concealed firearm belonging to another person, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a person having been convicted of a violent offense.

The rear seat passenger, a 29 year-old, female, San Francisco resident was released from the scene pending further investigation.
