Updates/Progress Report on Tasks Delegated to Sub-Committee Members

 

 

·     Commissioner L.C. Jones mentioned that last meeting we spent a lot of time on discussing, but we did not follow through on what we said. We are going to do in term of getting us moving. She hopes that whatever we discuss today we will all follow through a lot better than last meeting. She talked about the breath mobile. Ms. Emily-Wade Thompson did follow through on the tasks that to secure the breath mobile out of Oakland for our events. Commissioner Jones has made a contract with Dr. Washington Burn who was the position in SF, but he retired now. He will have the breath mobile arrives here at 9:30 in the morning and stay there the entire time. He also will demonstrate and educate in term of Asthma, and escape the capability of breath mobile. He will also do some checking for people who are interested being tested for Asthma.  

 

·     Herb Dang has contacted Police Department by email, but he has not heard from them. He will go there and talked to them if he hasn’t heard from them by next week.

 

·     Sam Murray said signed are done. Flyers are updated. He did not see the updated Flyers at the meeting. Will resend again to Commission Jones. He mentioned that Kathryn will have Organic foods for the event.

 

·     Yete Mcmahan from DPH mentioned that DPH will be involved in the event to provide information on nutrition and child passenger safety.

 

·     Dr. Hunnicutt decided to be involved in the event. She needs to negotiate with the Department Chairs for the helping on the decoration.

 

·     Tony Caruso had concerned about the raffle items to draw people to come. He hasn’t put the budget to buy the Wii system yet. He will buy it from Amazon.com. He also asked the Committee member to decide if we should get one big item or several gifts. The member has agreed to put the raffle prizes for several gifts, so it will benefit more people.

 

·     Megan Blanton was not attendance, but she will continue to follow through what she supposes to do.

 

·      Dr. Toye Moses provided the press release that is ready to go. It is ready to be sent to some reporters, and Bayview Newspaper as well as San Francisco Post.  He said Walgreen will come to set up the Blood Pressure table. UCSF medical student, Willie Moses who Commissioner Jones sent a letter to will not be able to participate, but he will forward the letter to the advisor. He mentioned about the letter for donation is ready for Heidi to sign.

 

·      Heidi Hardin recommended that after we send out the letter of donation we should follow up. She said she has all contacts in the email.

 

 

 

·      Kathryn Summers mentioned that last year we had a list of people who donated. We followd up. After we found out who will donate certain things. We will pick up or ask them to deliver here. Dr. Moses secured the items down stair.

Ideas to Get Students and Community to Attend the Health Fair

 

 

·   Mr. Murray will deliver the Banner for Churches, Businesses and schools. He mentioned that we should get 2-3 bicycles because we promote good health, and we want the kids to come out of their house

 

 

·   Commissioner Jones and Mr. Murray will deliver Flyers to parents and school principle.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Budget

 

 

·     Sam Murray reported that he will go to PUC Accounting to get $1000. He will inform Commissioner Jones for the update.

 

·     Commissioner Jones asked all the commissioner should help on donating for the event.

·      Sam Murray mentioned that we should put SFPUC, and Decorative Plants on the

 

Press release because they have been helping our event since the beginning.
