AGENDA

The goal of the Economic Development Advisory Committee is to advocate and encourage the promotion of entrepreneurial business opportunity in the Southeast Sector.  The committee also organizes the annual SECFC Job/Career Fair which connects the public and private sector employers with the local community.  The final goal is also to plan the collection of (non-perishable) can food donations for local CBO’s serving the needy Southeast sector residents during Thanksgiving/Christmas Holidays.

Requests for public comment may also be heard after Commission discussion of an agenda item by completing an information card and submitting it to The Commission Secretary.  Requests are given ‘first come first serve’ priority and speakers may be limited to three minutes.

3.     ANNOUNCEMENT: The Sunshine Ordinance prohibits the use of electronic sound producing devices at/during public meetings.  Please be advised that the meeting chair may remove any person(s) responsible for the ringing or use of cell phones, pagers and similar sound-producing electronic devices from the meeting room.

4.     PROPOSED ACTION: Be it resolved that the minutes of the Committee meeting from the previous Tuesday meeting of, 2014 be approved as submitted.

5.     PUBLIC COMMENT: Members of the public may address the Commission on matters under the jurisdiction of the Commission that is not on today’s agenda.

6.     ON-GOING BUSINESS: (Information & Discussion)

Discussion of committee preparations for SECFC sponsored Job/Career Fair promoting and advocating entrepreneurial business opportunities in the BVHP/Southeast Sector.

a)    Update on press release for the fair, Card flyer distribution, & media/flyers interest pieces

b)   Update on Pre-Job Readiness provided by HSA (Human Services Agency) on Tuesday, May 20th  from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

c)    Update on Resume assistance and other Job Fair preparation services are available at Renaissance Parents of Success on every Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and at the HSA Career Center daily.

d)   Update on donations, in-kind or otherwise

e)    Updates on confirmed participants and thank you/orientation letter material & vendor/guest registration

f)     Updates for division of labor

g)   Updates on final preparation and logistics, floor plan, signage, security, refreshments

7.     ADJOURNMENT
