New Map Launched Featuring CEQA Exempt Projects

City map of active projects exempt from environmental review now available

ANNOUNCEMENT

SF Planning has launched an online map featuring active projects that are exempt from environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The map will help San Francisco residents easily search and track recent exempt projects by location and address.

Prior to the Board of Supervisors’ hearing on the proposed Chapter 31 CEQA procedure amendments, the department worked with San Francisco community members for feedback on the exemption project posting process. As a result of the public feedback, the department updated its categorical exemption publishing system with the launch of the map. This revamp is in support of the recent CEQA legislation changes, which were approved by the Board of Supervisors on July 16, 2013.

A component of the CEQA categorical exemption publishing process is utilizing in-house technology, allowing department staff to efficiently process exemption applications and make project documents made available to the public.

To view the map of exemptions issued by the City and County of San Francisco since July 1, 2013, visit the CEQA Exemptions page on SF Planning’s website.
