Hearing Schedule
Draft Schedule for Hearings at Planning Commission: This draft calendar gives notice that the Planning Commission will be hearing the Market & Octavia Plan on the following dates as part of a time-specific calendar to be set in advance. Be advised that due to the nature of the public hearings, the Commission may continue any particular hearing item and/or may discuss aspects of any of the related topic matters at any time. This series of hearings would culminate in adoption actions no sooner than December 7th, 2006. Commission Packet for Initiation Hearing 9-28-06
Below are links to components of the Planning Commission package for the hearing initiating General Plan and Planning Code amendments pursuant to the Market & Octavia Plan. Although the initiation action is only to select a date to hold the first hearing on the Plan, the package contains the staff drafts of virtually all the necessary adoption documents and related background materials. This advance release allows several weeks for public review prior to the initial hearings on the Plan (first one no sooner than October 26th). Please note that environmental review documents will be distributed together as a separate package with the Comments and Responses book on or before September 28th.

Market & Octavia Plan Adoption
The Plan is going to the Planning Commission After more than six years of hard work by residents, businesses, and other community members with the Planning Department, the Market and Octavia Plan is entering the adoption phase. The Planning Commission will start the adoption process with an informational presentation by staff on Thursday, September 7th. The Planning Commission will hold the Initiation hearing on September 28 followed by the first hearing on Plan adoption proposed for October 26 at which point the Commission may consider adoption of the Plan. Each hearing will offer opportunity for public comment.The hearings are anticipated to coincide with release of the lastenvironmental review document, called "Comments & Responses". The plan proposes a comprehensive set of streetscape and open space improvements, new design guidelines, an implementation program, including new zoning controls and an unprecedented public benefit package complete with a funding plan to ensure that the ideas get built. Community Response to the Draft Plan Workshop

Walking Tours of the Market & Octavia Neighborhood
On January 12th and 18th, 2003, Planning Department staff led guided tours of the plan area and highlighted changes the draft plan seeks to promote.
Neighborhood Open Office Hours
Staff set up a temporary office in the First Baptist Church from 4-7 pm on January 9th, 14th, and 21st of 2003 to discuss the plan and answer questions from the public in a one on one forum.
Public Review Draft Release
The Planning Department was pleased to host a reception on December 17th, 2002 at the SF LGBT Center to present the first Public Review Draft of the Market & Octavia Neighborhood Plan.
