We’re excited to let you know that San Francisco Supervisor Hillary Ronen will be holding a hearing on the impact of cash bail on San Francisco low-income communities next Wednesday, June 28 at 10:00 am in City Hall, Room 263. Bail will be the first agenda item for the hearing.
Dear <<First Name>>,
At The Financial Justice Project, we believe that our system of bail creates a two-tiered system of justice: one for those with money and one for those without. We need to both advance local reforms and build momentum for larger state-level reforms that are in motion.
The Financial Justice Project will be testifying, as will representatives from the offices of our Sheriff, District Attorney, Public Defender, and the San Francisco Pretrial Diversion Project.
If you know people who can speak to how cash bail has impacted them or loved ones, please encourage them to come testify, and feel free to connect them with us. People have two minutes to speak and share their perspective. We’re happy to talk to anyone about what it’s like to come testify.
