REQUEST TO SPEAK ON ANY MATTER WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION BUT NOT APPEARING ON TODAY’S AGENDA (Item No. 2) |
Brenda Barros, my name is Brenda Barros a 1021 member and I work at Department of Public Health. The issue that I would like to bring up is a major issue, hopefully the Civil Service Commission can deal with it. It’s related to Covid and to people being tested and forced to come to work, that needs to be addressed. We’ve had incidents where people have been tested because of a specific program in Public Health to go to a particular unit, everybody had to be tested. That’s fine we don’t have an issue with that, what we do have an issue is with people being tested and then told to go back to work. Then, they are working side by side with their co-workers and some of them have ended up later coming back positive. We really hope the Civil Service will look at this because we feel that it is a violation of the workers’ rights who are there and it’s also putting people and our patients at risk. While they are waiting for that test to come back, they are still working and coming to contact with people. |
