Mayor’s Disability Council seeks nominations for 2022 Bob Planthold Beacon Award

Dear Disability Community Members:

Deadline: September 30, 2022.

The Bob Planthold Beacon Award is presented to an individual with a disability who lives and/or works in the City and County of San Francisco, who exhibits outstanding leadership, and who is a guiding light in the disability community. Past winners of the Beacon Award have included Alice Wong and the late Bob Planthold. This year, the name is the award has been changed to the Bob Planthold Award, as a tribute to Bob Planthold, who passed away earlier this year.

Public nominations are now open for the 2022 Bob Planthold Beacon Award through September 30, 2022. The nomination form can be reached at this link: https://forms.gle/9PG8XSzgaLRkWzYM7. Nominations will also be accepted by email to MDC@sfgov.org or by phone by calling 415-554-6789.

The recipient of this award will be announced at the Mayor’s Disability Council public meeting on October 21, 2022. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Eligibility. Nominees must:

· Live and/or work in San Francisco

· Serve the disability community in a voluntary or paid capacity for at least 5-10 hours/month

· Be an individual with a disability
