Even though it has been 50 years since Herb Lee joined the San Francisco Police Department, the impact of his service can still be felt today. 

As San Francisco’s first Chinese-American police officer, Herb helped break down barriers for countless individuals, and his subsequent efforts to recruit more minority officers lead to a transformation of the department.

Herb was a deeply-respected officer who served his community with unwavering commitment and as the president of the Police Activities League, he acted as a mentor for underprivileged children across the City. 

We are incredibly indebted to Herb for all his efforts. He will be missed.
