Our Children Our Families Council

To ensure that youth and families can effectively access the resources needed to thrive in San Francisco, Mayor Lee supported and co-chairs the Our Children Our Families Council (OCOF) with San Francisco Unified School District Superintendent Matthews.

Mayor's Teacher of the Year Award

The Mayor's Teacher of the Year Award recognizes outstanding San Francisco public school teachers for their dedication, professionalism, and work on behalf of our City's young people.

Mayor's Principal of the Year Award

The Mayor's Principal of the Year Award recognizes outstanding San Francisco public school principals for their dedication, professionalism, and work on behalf of our City's young people.

Mayor's "I Am the Future"Scholarship Awards

Since 2011, Mayor Ed Lee has supported the higher education aspirations of San Francisco youth with his “I Am the Future” Scholarship Awards for high school seniors and currently enrolled college students in San Francisco. The award is designed for first-generation college student who excel both in and out of the classroom.

San Francisco Mayor's Youth Jobs+ Initiative 

Mayor Lee joined the Obama Administration's Summer Jobs+ Challenge which was launched by the White House in January 2012 as a "call-to-action for businesses, non-profits and governments" to provide meaningful job training and employment opportunities for youth and young adults.

Mayor's STEM Middle School Leadership Initiative

Mayor Lee's commitment and enthusiasm for supporting Middle Grades transformation in partnership with SFUSD and School Site Principals provides a great opportunity to integrate the Mayor's Educational Leadership Initiative with Superintendent Carranza's vision to build a PreK-12 STEM pathway, and Salesforce.com Foundation's investment to improve communities by leveraging their people, technology and resources to improve outcomes in education, health and workforce.

Shared Schoolyard Project

The Shared Schoolyard Project upgrades and renovates playgrounds at public schools in San Francisco.

College Readiness

San Francisco's college readiness programs help to ensure that all of our youth have access to available resources and obtain the necessary skills to finish college.

The SFUSD and City Partnership for achievement focuses on improving outcomes for our public school students through active collaboration between the city and the SFUSD. 

SFUSD Strategic Plan 2013-2015

In 2013, SFUSD launched a new strategic plan for 2013-2015. The plan places access and equity, student achievement, and accountability at the forefront of every child's education.
