Mayor Lee's Statement On Aid For Philippines Typhoon Recovery Efforts
Mayor Lee today issued the following statement in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan’s destruction in the Philippines:
“Our hearts go out to all of those who have suffered in the Philippines from possibly the world’s strongest storm. The people of the Philippines are in our thoughts and prayers today and we will continue to support them in the days and months ahead as we learn the true impact caused by Typhoon Haiyan.
San Francisco stands ready to aid in the rebuilding and recovery efforts. The work of rebuilding communities begins immediately, and San Francisco understands how important a sustained, vigorous recovery effort is. Our City stands ready with the Bay Area Filipino-American community to assist today and into the future to help in the rebuilding efforts in the Philippines.”
Mayor Lee is encouraging residents to donate money in this time of need to help those affected by the aftermath of this storm. Residents can go to www.sfgivesback.org to get information about how to give to those on the ground and aiding in the recovery efforts.
Mayor Lee also encourages San Franciscans to be prepared here at home with an emergency plan and disaster supply kits, and urges all Bay Area residents to visit www.72hours.org or call 311 to learn more about how to best be prepared.
