Mayor Lee’s Statement on President Obama’s Jobs & Infrastructure Investment Plan for America
Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement in advance of President Barack Obama’s address to Congress this evening calling for a renewed focus on job creation and infrastructure investment:
“President Obama’s speech tonight must be a wakeup call to leaders from Washington to Sacramento to San Francisco that it’s time to put politics aside and unite around our nation’s number one priority – creating jobs.
The President’s call for aid to cities and states and a renewed commitment to infrastructure investments will directly boost our efforts to create jobs here in San Francisco and keep our City’s economy moving on the right track.
We in San Francisco must also put politics aside and unite behind the President’s jobs and infrastructure investment agenda for America. We must renew our commitment to work side by side with the Obama Administration, Leader Pelosi and Senators Feinstein and Boxer to advance and protect infrastructure investments like the Central Subway, the Transbay Transit Center and California High Speed Rail that will create tens of thousands of jobs and that are vital to our City’s economic future.”
