1. Call to Order and Roll Call


The meeting was called to order at 5:17 PM. Commissioners present: Madeleine Matz, William Juarez, and Stephanie Li. Commissioner absent: Luis Avalos-Nunez. There was quorum. Staff present: Leah LaCroix. There was no public comment.

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)


Commissioner Matz, seconded by Commissioner Li, moved to approve the agenda. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

Commissioner Li, seconded by Commissioner Matz, moved to approve the minutes. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

A. Brainstorm and discussion of committee priorities

a. Update on partnering with Peer Resources
Commissioner Juarez informed that he and Luis are still working on a resource document for Peer Resources at June Jordan School for Equity. There was no public comment.

b. Update on resolution for unaccompanied minors
Commissioner Juarez shared that him and Luis have experience scheduling conflicts, and have not been able to meet in person to work on the resolution. There was no public comment.

c. Update on CBA resolution
Commissioner Matz shared a research update, and asked that the second reading of the resolution be postponed until the May 2nd full commission meeting. There was no public comment.

d. Update on SFSU College of Ethnic Studies
Commissioner Juarez informed that students and faculty are still organizing to retain long-term funding for the College of Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State University. Commissioner Juarez will be reaching out to member of the Board of Supervisor on the issue. There was no public comment.

B. Review current pertinent legislation

The committee reviewed Legislation Introduced at the Board of Supervisors’ April 5, 2016 meeting. There was no public comment.

C. Discuss Budget and Policy Priority drafting

The committee decided to work on their budget and policy priorities draft independently and submit them to staff by Wednesday, April 13th. There was no public comment

7. Executive Committee Report


There was none.

8. Staff Report


Staff reminded the committee about the Vote16 Poster Contest, and asked the committee to share the announcement with their peers and networks. Staff also informed that the commission will be presenting their Budget and Policy Priorities in late May. Lastly, staff reminded the committee about the returning commission application is due on April 22nd. There was no public comment.
