As per the 2023-2024 Youth Commission Bylaws (PDF), the Housing, Recreation, and Transit Committee is a standing issue-based committee of five to seven Youth Commissioners. The Housing, Recreation, & Transit Committee focuses on:


•    Housing issues such as youth/TAY homelessness, rent control, tenant protections, SROs, zoning, and land use;
•    Recreation issues such as equitable access to parks citywide, and improving both public parks and community spaces;
•    Transportation issues such as protecting the Free Muni for All Youth program, expanding free transit, improving bike lanes (especially near schools and libraries), improving transit accessibility/routes/frequency, expanding school trippers citywide, and vision zero;
•    Climate issues such as addressing sea level rise, implementing green appliances in new buildings, and expanding EV charging stations citywide
