Evelyn Pedraza is a first-generation Latinx student raised in Northern California. She is a senior student studying to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in public service and community engagement at the University of San Francisco. As a student, she serves as a resident advisor for first-year students, a community assistant that serves and protects the resident halls front desk, and a Community Empowered Activist in which she interns with grassroots organizations to learn community organizing strategies. After graduating in May 2021, she wants to pursue a career in civic engagement and public service. She is joining the Youth Commission as an intern where she hopes to learn alongside the commissioners the inner workings of the city. During the past four years, she has lived in the city, she has learned to love and grow an appreciation of San Francisco. During her internship, she hopes she can work on projects that reflect her interests in housing, immigration, and tenant rights.
