1. Call to Order and Roll Call
Chair Bernick meeting was called to order at 5:01 pm. Commissioners present: Jillian Wu, Noah David, Anna Bernick, Anna He. Staff present: Allen Lu. There was quorum.
There was no public comment.
2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)
Commissioner Wu, seconded by Commissioner He, moved to approve the agenda. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.
3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

Commissioner He, seconded by Commissioner David, moved to approve the October 8, 2015 Minutes. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.
4. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda (Discussion Only)
There was no public comment.
5. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)
A. YEA! Interviews
Youth Commissioners conducted an interview process with applicants. Vote16SF, YEA!, a group poster-making activity, and 1-1 interviews were discussed and held.
B. Student engagement efforts for 2015-16 term
a. Full YC Follow Up
Commissioners reminded staff to share the presentation from the Full YC in the weekly internal update. There was no public comment.
b. SAC/BOE Follow Up
Commissioners have been trying to reach out to the SAC; staff shared that they reached out to the SAC to set up a meeting and will let YC’ers know as soon as they hear. Commissioners also decided that they wish to give public comment to encourage the SAC at their next full meeting. There was no public comment.
c. Presentations Recap (Info Sessions, Richmond, JCHS, Gal)
Commissioners shared experiences in presenting about Vote16SF in the field. There was no public comment.
d. Target Schools
Commissioners discussed schools that they would like to reach out to including Galileo, Saint Ignatius, and Lowell. Commissioner Wu shared that people from Galileo may apply for YEA! after presenting there. Members of the public shared that they knew some people at some of the schools and would help reach out to them. They also shared that what got them interested was seeing fliers at the MIX. There was no additional public comment.
e. National YAB Call
Commissioners Bernick, He, and Wu updated the committee on the call, and shared that another one would be happening next month. There was no public comment.
C. Preparation for upcoming Presentations/Workshops
a. Nov 7th Civic Tech Challenge
Commissioners He confirmed her attendance to present. Members of the public Ariana and Carshell also shared that they would come. Commissioner Jarrett Mao also expressed interest. There was no additional public comment.
b. November Training Session: Public Speaking + Talking Points
They also discussed setting up a date and time for a Public Speaking training on the Talking Points during the first week of November, based on the availability of YEA! applicants. There was no public comment.
D. Review committee priorities/schedule
Commissioners discussed having a dedicated time once a month for rolling interviews. They also discussed having regular training, and commitment to getting the Board of Education pass a resolution.
6. Staff Report
Staff shared the upcoming Youth Action Research Participation workshop that will be held at the MIX on Tuesday, November 3rd. Commissioner He, and YEA! applicants Carshell and Ariana were interested. Staff will follow up with further communication. There was no additional public comment.
7. Executive Committee Report
Commissioners Wu and He updated the committee about 1-1 check ins. There was no public comment.
8. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 6:56 pm.
