1. Call to Order and Roll Call


The meeting was called to order at 5:23 PM. Commissioners present: Madeleine Matz, William Juarez, Stephanie Li. Commissioner Luis Avalos noted present at 5:30 PM.

Staff present: Leah LaCroix. There was quorum.

There was no public comment.

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)



Commissioner Li, seconded by Commissioner Matz, moved to approve the agenda. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

A. Brainstorm and discussion of committee priorities

a. Update on resolution for unaccompanied minors
Commissioner Juarez informed the committee that Commission Avalos will be taking the lead on the UAC resolution. There was no public comment

b. Update on CBA resolution
Commissioner Li updated the committee on the research she and commissioner Matz will conduct for the resolution. The informed that they are meeting with staff from the Office of Economic Workforce and Development (OEWD) on Wednesday, and will share updates from that meeting at the upcoming full commission meeting. There was no public comment.

B. Update on Budget and Policy Priorities

Staff informed the committee that their final draft of budget and policy priorities are due Tuesday, May 17th. There was no public comment.

C. Review current pertinent legislation

Staff informed the committee on the Mayors recent press release regarding funding for legal services for unaccompanied minors. Commission Avalos suggested that the committee consider authoring a commendation for the Mayors action on the issue. There was no public comment.

7. Executive Committee Report


Commissioner Avalos encouraged the committee to continue working on their budget and policy priorities.

8. Staff Report


Staff shared that the upcoming full commission meeting has been rescheduled for May 23, 2016 in room 416. There was no public comment.
