1. Call to Order and Roll Call



Chair Soto called the meeting to order at 5:22pm. Commissioners present: Giovanna Soto, Erica Kong, Jarrett Mao, Cris Plunkett. Commissioners Absent: Lily Marshall-Fricker. Staff present: Leah LaCroix. There was quorum.

There was no public comment.

 

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)


Commissioner Kong, seconded by Commissioner Mao moved to approve the agenda. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

Commissioner Kong, seconded by Commissioner Plunkett moved to approve the minutes. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

4. Presentations (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)



A. Overview of the Free Muni For Youth program
Presenter: Leah LaCroix, Youth Commission Staff

Staff shared with the committee a PowerPoint presentation the Full Youth Commission received on Free Muni for Youth on November 16, 2016 from SFMTA staff. Chair Soto asked if the committee can receive an update from a member of the Free Muni for Youth Coalition. Staff noted the request.

There was no public comment.

 

5. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)


A. Brainstorm and discuss committee priorities

The committee reviewed the notes from their breakout session at Mid-Year Retreat held January 16-17, and assigned a point person for each priority. There was no public comment.

B. Policy research on committee priorities

The committee conducted research on their policy priorities, crafting research questions, and set an internal timeline for possible resolutions.

There was no public comment.

C. Review and update on current pertinent legislation

Staff informed the committee of Legislation Introduced at the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 that pertains to the work of the committee. The committee identified the following legislation to watch:

• The Affordable Housing Bonus Program
• Housing Charter Amendment
• Hotel Tax
• Construction of Accessory Dwelling Units – District 3
• All gender toilet facilities
• Higher nutritional standard for food and drink sold in city vending machines, and served at city meetings and events.
