1. Call to Order and Roll Call
The meeting was called to order at 6:45 p.m. Commissioners present: Michelle Kong, Joshua Cardenas, DeAsia Landrum, and Angel VanStark. Commissioner absent: Nicholas Persky. Staff present: Allen Lu. There was quorum.
2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)
There was no public comment. Commissioner VanStark, seconded by Commissioner Cardenas made a motion to approve the agenda. This motion was approved by acclamation.
3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

There was no public comment. Commissioner Landrum, seconded by Commissioner Cardenas, made a motion to approve the minutes to June 11th, 2014. The motion was approved by acclamation.
4. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda (Discussion Only)
There were none.
5. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)
A. Executive officer updates and committee reports
Commissioner Cardenas updated the committee about the CIP hearing with Project WHAT from June 19th. He shared that he was meeting with staff to discuss legislation referred and that he will be working on the legislative affairs document for the incoming Legislation Affairs Officer. He is also working on a Legislative Affairs workshop for orientation/retreat and welcomed his committee’s help. Lastly, he shared about the Children’s Fund and PEEF hearing and the Chronicle’s State of Homelessness article sent to the Housing, LGBTQ, and TAY committee.
Commissioner VanStark shared how he was interviewed by Al Jazeera America and identified as a Youth Commissioner. He is also talking to the BAR to do a story on the last YC meeting.
Commissioner Kong shared about her attendance at the June 11th hearing on the Children and Family First Initiative. There will be a press conference on July 8th at 12:30pm for the Children and Family First Initiative. She also shared that the Youth Employment and Immigration Committee has been tracking a legislation that will be heard more about on Monday.
Commissioner Landrum updated the committee on her role as co-MC with Commissioner Jina Bae at Summer Learning Day. She also attended a workshop with TILT and the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, who will also be having potlucks coming up. Commissioner VanStark shared that he will be present at the upcoming potluck. Commissioner Landrum explained that the project was about tracking San Francisco residents’ stories, asking them, “Where do you belong?” She gave updates regarding the Housing, LGBTQ, and TAY committee in their report for the Youth Town Hall, and the goal to complete by their next committee.
B. Open letter to incoming officers
Commissioner Kong shared and reviewed the structure and point of the letter with her committee members. Each officer will write a letter to their successor. This is the first year the EC will be doing this. The committee agreed to have an initial draft completed by July 11th, and a final by July 16th during committee.
C. Approve agenda for July 7th, 2014
Commissioners reviewed requested items for the upcoming full meeting. Commissioners agreed to the following items on the agenda: BOS File No. 140715 as legislation referred on the consent calendar; BOS file no. 140687 as legislation referred by the BOS; a presentation on AfroSolo’s “The Audacity to Succeed,” Thomas R. Simpson, and a presentation on Y-PLAN’s 2014 Tomodachi Program.
Commissioners gave feedback on flier for Afro Solo.
Commissioner VanStark, seconded by Commissioner Landrum made a motion to approve the agenda as amended above. The motion was approved by acclamation. There was no public comment.

6. Staff Report (Discussion Only)
The office will be closed on Friday to observe Independence Day. The Education, Health & Wellness Committee will be presenting to the Mayor’s Disability Council and are moving towards exploring pedestrian safety, and health and wellness of housing situations. Commissioners are highly encouraged to attend the Children’s Fund Press Conference on July 8th since they have worked tremendously hard this past year to get their recommendations and the Mayor will be present to speak about it.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:18pm.
