1. Call to Order and Roll Call
The meeting was called to order at 5:04 pm. Commissioner present: Berliner, Cardenas, Wu; Commissioners absent: Edelhart; Staff present: Adele Failes-Carpenter. There was quorum.
2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)
Commissioner Cardenas, seconded by Commissioner Wu, moved to approve the agenda. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.
3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

Commissioner Wu, seconded by Commissioner Cardenas, moved to approve the minutes. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

A. Review SFPD priorities
Commissioner Berliner and Cardenas confirmed they would attend a training demonstration with SFPD. There was no public comment.
B. Review highlights from JPD budget
Commissioners reviewed a correspondence with Chief Nance of JPD regarding a budget request for Astroturf in the JPD recreation yard. Committee members expressed general support for the request with the following questions:
• How was the need for Astroturf identified? Have youth requested the activities that would be enabled by Astroturf?
• When would the turf be installed, if approved?
• Will the Astroturf have an overall impact on the amount of outdoor time youth get? Are there other capital or staffing investments that would further increase the amount of yard time youth detained at the hall receive, ie staffing, security cameras, or fence improvements?
Committee members directed staff to inquire about these questions, as well as upcoming budget hearing dates and to place the item on the next committee agenda for formal consideration. There was no public comment.
C. Review other committee priorities
Committee members discussed the upcoming Project WHAT art show at Alcatraz and community town hall about the SF jail build. There was no public comment.
7. Staff Report (Discussion Only)
Staff advised on the DCYF OAC applicant review process. There was no public comment.
8. Executive Committee Report (Discussion Only)
There was none.
