1. Call to Order and Roll Call

The meeting was called to order at 5:33pm

Commissioners Present: Gomez, Carrion

There was quorum.

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)

Commission Gomez, seconded by Commissioner Carrion, moved to approve the agenda. This motion was approved by acclamation.

There was no public comment.

3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

Commission Gomez, seconded by Commissioner Carrion, moved to approve the minutes from March 21, 2013. This motion was approved by acclamation.

5. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)

A. Staff report

Staff member, Adele Carpenter, reminded commissioners of the opportunity to share the budget and policy priorities with the BOS budget and finance committee on Thursday May 22, 2013 at 4:30pm.

B. JPD Priorities Next Steps

C. SFPD Priorities Next Steps

Commissioners would like to meet with Samara Marion again to discuss their next steps. Commissioner Carrion will follow up with Captain Lazar regarding progress on the training recommendation.

D. Drafting Position Letter and/or Op-Ed on JPD PO’s

The committee will write a position letter draft on the JPD probation officer field safety plan by June 4, 2013, to be approved at the June 6, 2013 meeting.

E. Drafting Letter of Support on AB 915

Commissioner Carrion is drafting a resolution for first reading at the May 20, 2013 full commission meeting. The committee will then draft a letter after a position has been taken.
