Members: Anna Bernick (Chair), Noah David (Vice Chair), Anna He, Jillian Wu
1. Call to Order and Roll Call
The meeting was called to order at 5:11 pm. Commissioners present: Bernick, David, Wu, He (6:10; Commissioners absent: None; Staff present: Leah LaCroix. There was quorum.
Vote16 youth advocates in attendance:
Carshell, Arrianna, Polina, Lorelei, Iris. Wilson, Joshua, Neo, Cami, and Shara. Staff: Celi Tamayo-Lee, YEA coordinator.
2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)
Commissioner Wu, seconded by Commissioner David, moved to approve the agenda. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

5. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)
A. Debrief BOE hearing on February 23, 2016
The committee and youth advocates reflected on the February 23, 2016 Board of Education resolution in support of lowering the voting age to 16, and discussed the success of their outreach and preparation efforts.
There was no further public comment.
B. Recent outreach updates
The committee discussed recent outreach efforts, and shared the results of those meetings.
• Staff informed that Assemblymember David Chiu lent his endorsement to the committee’s efforts.
• Chair Bernick updated the committee on her presentation to the Mayor’s Disability Council
• Chair Bernick recalled the events at Tuesday, February 23 Board of Education meeting
• Staff shared updates from the February DCCC meeting where the committee members voted in favor of a BOE resolution to implement pre-registration of 16 and 17 year olds in SFUSD
• Staff informed that Youth Advocacy Day takes placed on March 17th
• Youth advocate, Shara, shared that she will be presenting to Youth in Power group at Balboa HS.
C. Preparation for upcoming presentations/workshops
Chair Bernick reviewed upcoming events:
• Staff informed that Celi, Shara, and Anna H. are presenting to Coleman YMAC today.
• TAYSF CTAB: Friday March 4, 2016 at 5pm (Celi and Carshell)
• Vote16 YEA retreat #2: Sunday March 6th 9-3p [location TBA] (YC and YEA)
• Asm Phil Ting: Friday, March 11, 2016 at 4pm at the State Building (Carshell, Wilson, Neo)
• Chinese Progressive Association-youth mojo: March 13th at 1pm (Polina, Jill, Cami, Wilson)
• DCCC: March 16 @ the state building 7pm (Polina, Cami, Joshua, Carshell)
• BOS Rules Committee: April 14 [tentative] (YC and YEA)
• Pelosi: TBD (YC and YEA)
Youth advocates informed on which presentation they could attend. There was no further public comment.
D. Discuss plan for BOS outreach
The committee and Youth advocates identified which supervisorial district they either live or attend school. They decided to reach out to members of the BOS based on their district ties, and agreed reach out to individual members of the board in the coming week.

E. Review other committee and YEA updates
• Shara asked for feedback on a Vote16 educational video.
• Lorelei, Joshua, Neo, and Polina agreed to work on a poster contest proposal, and to reach out to Youth Art Exchange.
• The committee reviewed and discussed a change.org petition on Vote16.
There was no further public comment.
F. Determine co-facilitator for next meeting
Youth advocate, Cami, volunteered to co-facilitate the March 17th Civic Engagement Committee meeting. There was no further public comment.

6. Staff Report
Staff shared that he 2016-17 Youth Commission application are available. Staff also informed that the 2016 Youth Advocacy Day is still searching for youth leaders. There was no public comment.
7. Executive Committee Report
Commissioner He shared updates from Wednesday, March 2, 2016 Executive Committee meeting. There was no public comment.
