1. Call to Order and Roll Call

Committee Chair Wu called the meeting to order at 5:12 p.m. Commissioners present: Emily Guo, Michel Li, Joyce Wu, David Zheng. Commissioners Absent: Luis Avalos. There was quorum. Staff present: Allen Lu.


2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)

There was no public comment. Commissioner Li, seconded by Commissioner Zheng, moved to approve the agenda. This motion was approved by acclamation.

3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

There was no public comment. Commissioner Li, seconded by Commissioner Zheng, moved to approve the minutes of September 18, 2014. The motion was approved by acclamation.


4. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda (Discussion Only)

There were none.

5. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)

A. Prioritizing Priorities

Chair Wu opened the space up for people to add other priorities. The goals and issues from the previous meeting were reviewed, and the committee asked a few clarifying questions. Commissioner Li also shared the committee’s involvement with Community Based Agreements, and her attendance at the Mid Market CBA meeting with community members, the City Administrator’s office, and representatives from tech companies.

The committee decided to focus on three goals: the survey for unaccompanied students, the resolution to remove DACA renewal fee, and Community Benefit Agreements for youth. The committee formed working teams for each of these three goals and identified action items for each goal.

B. Young Voters Forum Working Session

The committee discussed and prepared how they wanted to facilitate their break out sessions on Proposition J: Increasing the Minimum Wage, at the Young Voters Forum. The then worked on posters and facilitation.

There was no public comment.


C. Committee Expectations

Chair Wu, seconded by Commissioner Zheng, motioned to table this item due to the time. The motion was approved by acclamation.

6. Staff Report

A. Programmatic Updates

Staff informed commissioners about the Larkin St. Voters Education Event happening October 29th and their request for YC’ers to come out and lead a table on a ballot measure. Chair Wu requested her committee members to email staff if they are available and interested.

Staff also shared an opportunity in the coming week where European youth leaders would be visiting and have requested to meet with Youth Commissioners. Commissioners Wu, Zheng, and Guo shared their interest.

7. Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 7:13pm.
