1. Call to Order and Roll Call

The meeting was called to order at 5:09 pm.

Commissioners present: Sarah Armstrong, Betty Huey, Nicholas Persky, Mia Shackelford. There was quorum. Staff present: Phimy Truong.

 

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)

Commissioner Persky, seconded by Commissioner Shackelford, moved to approve the agenda. This motion was approved unanimously by acclamation.

 

3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

 

A. Monday, April 23, 2012

Commissioner Armstrong, seconded by Commissioner Persky, moved to approve the minutes to the meeting of April 23, 2012. This motion was approved unanimously by acclamation.

4. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda (Discussion Only)

There were none.

5. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)

 

A. Establish goals and timeline for committee work

Commissioners discussed their goals for the remaining months of their term. Commissioner Armstrong reviewed with members everything that they have learned and issue based projects that they have started this year. Committee members agreed to continue to work on youth employment issues if any were to get reappointed next year. Commissioners then discussed goals for current work in progress. Staff updated committee members on the Summer Jobs+ Resource Fair, a job fair that will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Moscone Center. Commissioners Persky and Huey then registered themselves on www.hiresfyouth.org and planned on attending the resource fair.

B. Research

Commissioners spent some time doing some research on work permits, and issues that may come up in the youth employment world this summer.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:33pm.
