Housing and Land Use Committee

Plyfaa Suwanamalik-Murphy has attended three years at Ruth Asawa SOTA and is now finishing her last year as a homeschool student. Representing District 4, she is passionate about providing long-term solutions to homeless youth such as housing, job training, and paths to higher education. Plyfaa is eager to begin her work in the Housing and Land Use Committee to institute positive change for youth in our city. Born in Thailand, Plyfaa has traveled extensively in Southeast Asia, which contributed to her strong interest in helping end the refugee crisis. Plyfaa also spent a year camping across the United States, studying Native Americans' history, learning in-depth the Civil Rights Movement, and visiting Civil War monuments. She hopes to use her background and experience to help benefit youth in the city. During COVID-19, Plyfaa organized a benefit for undocumented workers through an online mariachi music fundraiser performance. She has also performed in a music group for seniors at On Lok centers.

Fun Facts: Plyfaa enjoys rowing with Pacific Rowing Club six days a week, backpacking, and playing Irish/folk music on the violin.
