Calvin Quick (he, him) is currently in his second year at the University of California, Berkeley. For two years following the tragic Parkland shooting in February 2018 and the rise of the March for our Lives movement, Calvin was a leader in lobbying for gun control legislation in the California State Legislature. As Legislative Coordinator and Advocate for the youth-led advocacy group Bay Area Student Activists (BAStA), he advocated for gun control, education equity, and transformative justice on over 60 bills. He is currently involved in the youth climate movement and organizes with advocates for defunding the police. He speaks English and French fluently and lives in the neighborhood north of the Panhandle. He is committed to working on issues related to housing, land-use, transportation, and the arts. He has served diligently in his past two terms as the Legislative Affairs Officer for the Youth Commission and is excited to return in his final term as the District 5 Youth Commissioner.
